energy performance certificates

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) shows the Energy Efficiency Rating for a property.

What are Energy Performance Certificates?

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) shows the Energy Efficiency Rating (energy costs) of a property on a scale of A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). The average property in the UK is currently rated as ‘D’.

How is an EPC produced?

Producing an EPC involves taking a series of measurements and photographs both inside and outside your property. This includes examining your heating and hot water system, insulation, lighting and building construction. The survey itself will take around 45 minutes.

Why do I need an EPC?

Since 2007, EPCs have been a legal requirement for all properties marketed for sale or rent. They are also a pre-requisite for anyone who wishes to apply for various Government schemes, such as the Feed-in-Tariff for the domestic sector.
