Why should I have an Energy Performance Certificate?
Since 2008 EPCs have been a legal requirement for all commercial properties marketed for sale or rent. They are also required for various government grant schemes.
What are the minimum energy efficiency standards (MEES)?
MEES were introduced in 2018 to ensure a minimum standard of energy efficiency for rented properties. The current minimum standard is an E rating and this applies to new and existing tenancies. The government is expected to raise the standard to a C rating. We have the experience to advise on the most cost effective way improvement works can be made to bring properties up to standard and also on the exemption process if your building doesn’t make the grade.
